So I first heard about this series while going through my Pinterest. I like all things Disney and this popped up in my feed. So naturally, I was interested in trying it out but never got around to it. That is until 1 day it became available for Free Book Friday from Barnes and Noble. And then I tried Audible and got it there as well and boy was it weird listening but not hearing their actual voices from the movie was weird.
Elizabeth J. Braswell went to Brown University. Before she became a writer she was producing video games. She wrote the Nine Lives of Chloe King. Never heard of it but it was turned into a series I heard.
Spoilers ahead! So it's 5 years after Vanessa married Eric, Ariel has no voice, and yeah. Scuttle and his grandchild Jona see Vanessa talking to a polyp in a jar that they believe to be King Triton so they send a message off to Ariel so that she may save him. Ariel goes to the surface and sneaks into Vanessa's room to find him but finds the necklace that holds her voice instead. When she breaks it, she gets her voice back, Eric is no longer under a trance, and Vanessa now knows that Ariel has resurfaced. Ariel and Eric get together to come up with a plan to save King Triton. Vanessa is hiding him and had put a reward out for anyone who can capture a yellow and blue fish.
What's interesting about this story is that you see a story about your same beloved characters in another version of the same story. It's great for young diehard Disney fans to read into. I am one of those Disney nerds but definitely not young.
I did not have to pay a penny for this book so I am not sure how much it is but it's not that hard to Google. For you, not for me.
On Goodreads, this has a 3.8 rating and Barnes and Noble have a 4.6 rating. For me, I will give it a good 3. It wasn't bad but I'm good with only reading it once.
