Does anyone remember when Barnes and Noble had Nooks? It was before tablets got really popular. Well, one year my mom and I got them during a special going on for Father's Day. Yes, for us, not for the men in our lives. Well about 5 years ago something happened to mine but thankfully I downloaded the app on my phone so I still had access to all of my books. Well anyways, Friday is free-book Friday where they have 1 book available for download for free if you so choose to do that.
That is how I came across this book. Heads up this will probably contain some spoilers because I can not be vague at all!!
We follow Chancery who is a twin and her sister is to take the throne. With the Evian line of succession, the youngest of the queen must take the throne. Chancery and Judica are twins and Chancery was to be killed upon arrival but her mom couldn't do it. Right before the mother's death, she changed successors so Chancery left to train to battle her sister to the death over the throne. When she leaves, she gets a taste of human life and falls in love with it.
This is the first book of the Birthright series and I haven't gotten to read the rest of the series yet but I am so excited to read them.
It took me about 2-3 days to read this and on the last day, it took me all night to finish because I could not put it down. I crashed after finishing it but it was so well worth it.
It has a rating of 4.2 stars on Goodreads. It was published in October 2019 and the age range is 14-17 years. Yes, I'm an adult reading a book more meant for teenagers but that does not take away how good it is.
If you have a teenager, do you think they would be interested in this?
Have you read anything else by Bridget E. Baker?
Did I spoil anything for you?
