My husband and I recently just went on a vacation this year. This was his sort of present for finally graduating paramedic school since that is a goal he was denied or delayed. But I restricted this vacation to stay in Texas because there are so many beautiful places here that I haven't had the chance to see, and I live here!

We left early Sunday morning in my little Chevy cruze and started heading towards Terlingua. It was an interesting part of out journey, it was raining really hard in some area and heavy flooding in others. About halfway there Airbnb called us about out host. Apparently, lightening hit hos house the night before! Our cabin was fi, but it was going tona be hard to get in tougo to call a specific number when we get to a certain point.

Once we got to that point we called. It was a busy signal. Called again 5 minutes later and same thing. My husband tried on his phone and same thing. So we started driving and figured we would keep trying as we drove. Well that plan backfired because we lost all signal within 10 minutes of driving. So for the next hour and a half we enjoyed some of the most beautiful views and scenery. We finally get to the road we are staying on but it's a rocky path. Our host said that a Prius drove it no problem so we weren't worried until we can hear the rocks underneath hitting the bottom of my car. So what our host explained as less than 5 minute drive down this road to his gate took us 20-30 minutes.

When we finally got there, gate was closed and out host was nowhere in sight. So we honked the horn and was screaming his name and all of that was interesting because we were in the middle of nowhere and everyone could hear us. He finally shows up about 5 minutes later and when I say he is a chatty Kathy, I'm not exaggerating. We spent about 45 minutes at the gate while he talked about all his memories and experiences. We finally get in and head to the cabin and he shows us around and that takes us another 30 minutes because again more memories and more experiences. I finally asked my husband for the car keys so that I could change and get ready for dinner.

Well 10 minutes after I said that our host finally went off and did his thing. He wasn't a bad guy, just weird and chatty. He had a couple animals there and one of the bit my husband, that was interesting. We got dressed and ready for dinner which was 40 minutes away! So we went down the rocky road again and then drove into town. We found our dinner spot and had a nice meal. After we got out souvenirs and went back to our cabin. While driving back my husband heard a weird noise and turns out we got a freaking bolt in my tire!! Great way to start vacation. Luckily we found a tire shop in the town we were just in that was open.

I could not give this place enough credit. I was super thankful for their help cause they patched my tire and for the rest of vacation, that patch worked!! After that was done, we had to drive to out cabin in the dark which in this part of Texas, there are no lights whatsoever. We did have flashlights thankfully but it was still scary it being that dark and it was also very windy. So we got back to the cabin and got ready for bed and hearing the wind was scary that late at night but we made till morning. Which we woke up early again and thankfully made it without any flat tires or any other damage.

We did not go to Big Bend National Park which was the reason why we went there. We just saw a lot of people got flats there and we didn't want to take the chance when we still had a lot of vacationing left to do.

Have you been to Terlingua or Big Bend National Park?

Have you thought about it?

What's the most interesting thing that has happened to you on vacation?
